Is 4 weeks after sex to early to determine pregnancy?

I took a pregnancy test 4 weeks after sex and it came up negative but i feel a little strange – could i still be pregnant? Did anyone test negative at 4 weeks but found out later they were actually pregnant?
I have irregular periods – my last one was in March! so i cannot wait until my next period as it may not arrive at all anyway!

Generally women can test about 2 weeks after conception and get an accurate result. If you seriously think you’re pregnant, then ask the doc for a blood test.

Did you start your period yet? Try a blood pregnancy test at the doctors?

No it’s not early at alll! If you’re not getting the results you think you should i suggest visiting your doctor and getting a blood pregnancy test done. They’re more accurate. Baby dust to you!!

The HCG levels may have been too low at that time, take another test, remember, you can get a false negative but not a false positive.

4 weeks a preg test should be coming up positive but false negatives do happen quite often and some people dont test positive blood or urine till they are about 3 months in…. take another test, different brand in a day or so and if thats still negative go to your doctor and get a blood test done….

    good luck

i think that 4 weeks after is still pretty accurate. but just check your doctor just in case.

then probably you not pregnant. you need only 2 weeks after an intercourse to see if you are pregnant or not. it works with me and probably with a lot of women.

You should wait until you miss your period to be sure or take it the fifth week. My mom took one 3 weeks after(it said negative) and then two weeks later she turned up preganent if thats any help.

It all depends on the levels of hcg in your body. The embryo can take up to 12 days to implant in your endometrium and thereafter hcg is produced. That is the hormone which indicates whether or not you are pregnant.

Some of the home tests are also not that accurate. It would be better to do a blood test at this stage.

Test again in a few days or if you can get a blood test done at the doctors. It should show a positive if you are by the time your period is due.

    Good Luck!!

Either wait another week or 2 and take another test, or go to the doctors to check using blood.

It can be. I tested positive at 5 weeks but the line was very faint. I knew I was pregnant with the signs I had.

Not at all. That’s when I found out but every woman’s body is different. Your body may not make enough of the hormone needed to detect pregnancy for another few weeks. I’ve heard horror stories of woman getting positive blood pregnancy tests and not making a positive on the urine stick until 6 months along! You could still be pregnant… even if you have gotten your period. My advice is to go to the doctor’s and have them do a blood test. Good Luck!!
